Most remarkably, AlphaZero uncovered new approaches to the game that dazzled chess experts. By contrast, AlphaZero, a program revealed by the Alphabet subsidiary DeepMind in 2017, taught itself to play the game at a grandmaster level simply by practicing over and over.
